AHY to Democratic Party Cadres: The People Know Us Not by Our Positions, but by the Benefits We Deliver
Democratic Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) has instructed all members of the Democratic Party Faction in Provincial and Regency/City Regional People’s Representative Councils (DPRD) across Indonesia to continue fighting for the people’s aspirations through concrete work in the regions. The instruction was delivered during the opening of the First Wave of the National Technical Guidance (Bimteknas) for Democratic Party Faction Members of Provincial and Regency/City DPRD throughout Indonesia at the SBY-Ani Museum & Gallery in Pacitan, East Java, on Thursday evening, 2 July 2026. In his address, AHY reminded that the people do not know the Democratic Party by the positions held by its cadres, but by the real benefits they bring to society. “I also express my gratitude to all Democratic Party cadres who are present among the people every day. The people do not know us by the positions we hold. The people will know us by the benefits we deliver. What you do is the face of the Democratic Party in the eyes of the people,” AHY stressed. On that occasion, AHY conveyed three major agendas that must serve as a common guide for all participants present. The first agenda is to continue fighting for the people’s aspirations. According to him, national development must be increasingly felt by the community through job creation, strengthening of MSMEs, infrastructure development, improving the quality of education, health services, and better public services. Therefore, AHY invited all Democratic Party DPRD members to fight for every regional policy that opens up job opportunities, improves the quality of human resources, and provides hope for the younger generation. He stressed that the Democratic Party must be present not only during campaigns or ahead of elections, but every day, every time the people need it. “As DPRD members, you hold a very important mandate. Use the legislative function to produce policies that favour the people. Use the budgeting function so that every rupiah of the regional budget provides maximum benefit. And use the oversight function to ensure the government runs effectively, cleanly, and accountably,” he said. AHY also reminded that politics is a path of service, not merely about power. Therefore, the Democratic Party must be known as a party that works with evidence, delivers solutions, and provides real benefits to society.
