AHY has emphasised that the Tanjung Kait fishermen’s area needs to be strengthened as a productive zone supporting the economic activities of coastal communities. AHY assessed that several advanced infrastructure projects need to be prioritised, including breakwaters, anti-abrasion embankments, river normalisation, jetties for mooring fishermen’s boats, fishermen’s fuel stations, boat workshops, slurry ice-based ice factories, and strengthening of the dock. “It’s not just about tidying up the residential area, but also ensuring that this zone becomes increasingly productive and safe from ecological threats,” he stressed in a written statement on Wednesday (6/5/2026). This was stated by AHY on Thursday (16/4). He then explained that the use of slurry ice technology made from saltwater would help maintain the quality of fish catches for longer, thereby increasing fishermen’s competitiveness in marketing marine products to both traditional and modern markets. He also assured coordination with the Ministry of Public Works (PU) to support the further development of the Tanjung Kait area as a model for integrated fishermen’s village development. “We want collaboration between the government, NGOs, and all community elements to continuously strengthen the welfare of fishermen’s communities over time,” AHY concluded. This visit was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Didit Herdiawan; the Deputy Governor of Banten, Ahmad Dimyati; the Regent of Tangerang, Mohamad Maesyal Rasyid; and Forkopimda officials. During this visit, AHY was accompanied by the Deputy for Coordinating Housing Development and Settlement Infrastructure, Ronny Ariuly Hutahayan; Special Staff for Regional Development, Arif Rahman; Special Staff for Management and Inter-Institutional Cooperation, Agust Jovan Latuconsina; Special Staff for Law and Regulation, Sigit Raditya; Special Staff for Communication and Public Information, Herzaky Mahendra Putra, as well as Expert Staff Yudhi Prasetyo Purnomo and Rio Neswan.
