AHY Run 2026 Attracts 5,500 Runners, Boosting Sports Tourism in Central Java
Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi took part in the 5K category alongside his son, Mohammad Alif Daffa, following the same route as the other participants. They ran through Simpanglima, Jalan Gajah Mada, Jalan Pemuda and Jalan Pandanaran with thousands of other runners.
Along the 5K route, Ahmad Luthfi called out words of encouragement to the runners several times. His participation with his son added to the lively atmosphere of the event, which attracted thousands of people.
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono also took part in AHY Run, running in the 10K category. The route passed through Simpanglima, Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan MT Haryono, the Kota Lama area, Jalan Pemuda and Jalan Pandanaran, with the finish line at Plaza Gajah Mada in Simpanglima.
After completing the race, Ahmad Luthfi praised the organisation of AHY Run 2026 in Central Java.
“As Governor of Central Java, I would like to thank the Coordinating Minister. AHY Run 2026 in Central Java has been a great success,” Luthfi said in a written statement on Sunday (18 October 2026).
Luthfi said AHY Run was one of the activities encouraging people to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Sport, he said, was not only about achieving the fastest time, but also about maintaining good health so people could carry out their daily activities effectively.
“With a healthy body and a healthy lifestyle, we will be able to carry out our activities well. This is a role model that other members of the public should follow,” he said.
Luthfi also said AHY Run Semarang 2026 could help drive sports tourism in Central Java, particularly in Semarang. The provincial government is encouraging more events, including running races and other sporting and public activities.
Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said he was delighted to run alongside people from Semarang and other regencies and cities across Central Java. He said the event generated positive energy, enthusiasm for healthy living and motivation to improve sporting achievements.
AHY also said he enjoyed running while taking in the beauty of Semarang, particularly when the route passed through the Kota Lama area. He hoped AHY Run would be held in other Indonesian cities.
“Semarang is the first city in 2026. Hopefully, our colleagues will also want to organise it in other cities, not only on Java but on other islands as well. I hope this will bring us all together,” AHY said.
Semarang is the first city on the AHY Run 2026 series. After Semarang, the event is planned for other cities across Indonesia, including those outside Java.
