AHY Requests Worship Places to be Equipped with Facilities
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development (Menko IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) has stressed the importance of improving and equipping places of worship with facilities.
According to AHY, this is part of efforts to support the comfort of the faithful while strengthening their social role within the community.
He conveyed this during his attendance at the Vigil Mass at the Kalvari Catholic Church in Lubang Buaya Parish, East Jakarta, on Saturday (4/4/2026).
On that occasion, he also emphasised that infrastructure development should not focus solely on physical aspects but must also support the social and religious life of the community.
He also appreciated the various social activities carried out by the church, including initiatives to help repair homes of underprivileged residents.
In his view, such steps represent tangible expressions of care that deserve support and expansion.
“Including the social activity of repairing homes for underprivileged residents earlier, I believe this is something noble. The government will be present and continue to encourage this to be carried out sustainably,” he added.
Furthermore, AHY assessed that the Kalvari Catholic Church in Lubang Buaya Parish has become an example of how a place of worship functions not only as a site for worship but also as a centre for social activities that provide broad benefits.
He also reiterated the importance of the spirit of resurrection during the Easter momentum as inspiration for facing the nation’s various future challenges.
“We want to rise from various limitations with optimism. With the spirit of resurrection, we can navigate various challenges and realise a more advanced and prosperous society,” AHY concluded.
The Vigil Mass proceeded solemnly and was attended by the faithful welcoming the Easter celebration with full joy.
