AHY Reports Solutions to Prabowo Following Bekasi Train Accident, Here Are the Results
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Coordinating Minister (Menko) for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) reported on developments and tactical steps following the accident between the KRL and KA Argo Bromo Anggrek trains in Bekasi some time ago.
“Of course, we reported on the developments and the tactical solution steps that must be taken immediately and have actually been carried out, following the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station,” said AHY at the Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
AHY stated that his side has identified 76 level crossings in Java and Sumatra regions that require the immediate construction of railway gates, flyovers, or underpasses.
“And we also want to continue improving the signalling system and modernising other rail systems,” he said.
“So, the spirit is that for public transportation, we prioritise safety and ultimately connectivity between regions can also bring growth and other economic opportunities,” AHY added.
Previously reported, the collision occurred between the Cikarang-bound KRL number PLB 5568A and the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek on the Gambir–Surabaya Pasar Turi route at around 20:52 WIB on Monday night (27/4/2026).
The total casualties in the incident reached 106 people, with 16 of them dying after intensive treatment and 90 others injured.
