AHY Praises Agung Nugroho, Encourages Him to Serve as an Example for Democratic Party Cadres in the Regions
Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, expressed his appreciation for the achievements of the Head of the Riau branch of the Democratic Party, who is also the Mayor of Pekanbaru, Agung Nugroho. AHY hopes that Agung’s leadership can be a role model for Democratic Party cadres in other regions.
This statement was made by AHY while attending the 6th Regional Conference (Musda) of the Riau Province branch of the Democratic Party virtually on Friday, May 15, 2026.
In his speech, AHY said he was proud of Agung Nugroho’s political journey, which he believes started from the grassroots and led to him leading the Democratic Party at the provincial level. He believes that this experience is important capital in building leadership that understands the needs of the community as well as the dynamics of the party organization.
“I am happy and proud to hear about the journey of our cadre, Agung, from the bottom up, from PAC, DPC to DPD,” said AHY.
According to him, Agung’s achievements while serving as a regional leader also deserve appreciation. AHY mentioned that several achievements can be an example for other regions, both in Riau Province and nationally.
“As a regional leader, Mr. Agung has achieved a number of achievements that can be a model for other districts/cities in Riau and other regions,” he said.
On this occasion, AHY also greeted all Democratic Party cadres throughout the province of Riau and expressed his appreciation to the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Democratic Party who attended the Musda. Among them were the Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Herman Khaeron, and the Head of the Organization, Cadre, and Membership Development Agency (BPOKK), Ossy Dermawan.
AHY also appreciated Agung Nugroho and the committee for successfully organizing the Musda as part of the party’s consolidation in the region.
In his direction, AHY conveyed three main strategies to all Democratic Party cadres in Riau, namely strengthening unity, building strength, and achieving victory. He also asked cadres who currently hold positions in legislative and executive bodies to continue to be present among the community.
“Continue to go down to the field, absorb aspirations, and help people who are having difficulties. The spirit of ‘Caring and Sharing’ must remain in our hearts,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, AHY emphasized that the Democratic Party’s quarter-century is proof of the party’s long journey in upholding democracy and national development. He reminded that the party has a strong track record, including once bringing Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as President of the Republic of Indonesia.
In closing his speech, AHY hopes that the 6th Democratic Musda in Riau can further strengthen the solidarity of the party while encouraging progress and welfare for the people of Riau Province.
“Hopefully, the Democratic Party in Riau will be even stronger and more successful,” he concluded.
