AHY Inspects Tanjung Kait Fishermen's Village, Emphasises Coastal Infrastructure

During the visit, AHY emphasised the importance of developing habitable, productive, and resilient fishing areas to counter environmental threats. AHY stated that areas previously unfit for habitation have undergone transformation through construction, repairs, and reorganisation of fishermen’s homes and their families. According to him, this change is tangible proof of cross-sector collaboration in delivering community welfare. “Today, we are seeing directly the condition of the residential area which was previously substandard. Now, construction, repairs, and reorganisation of community homes, especially those of fishermen and their families, have been carried out. This is a collaborative project,” said AHY in a written statement on Wednesday (6/5/2026). This was stated by AHY on Thursday (16/4). He added that the government continues to strive to implement President Prabowo Subianto’s directives to improve the quality of life for communities, including coastal fishing communities. In the area spanning approximately 1.3 hectares, 110 homes have been built and reorganised, making the environment healthier, more orderly, and comfortable. “This is the spirit we are championing together, namely realising a green, safe, healthy, clean, organised, and beautiful Indonesia. Hopefully, Tanjung Anom and Tanjung Kait can advance further,” he continued. AHY also appreciated the synergy of the Tangerang Regency Government in providing basic infrastructure, such as neighbourhood roads, sanitation, and lighting, as well as the contribution from NGO Habitat for Humanity, which has channelled around Rp5.5 billion for the construction and repair of residents’ homes. “Thank you to Habitat for Humanity for helping build 110 homes. This is an example of collaboration between government, NGOs, and the community that deserves appreciation,” he said. In addition, AHY appreciated the support from the Duafa Komida Cooperative, which assisted in the process of purchasing residents’ land from previous owners, and encouraged accelerating the resolution of land certification through the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency. Looking ahead, AHY emphasised that the Tanjung Kait fishing village will not only be organised in terms of housing but also strengthened as a productive area supporting the coastal community’s economic activities. Therefore, several advanced infrastructure projects are deemed necessary to prioritise, including breakwaters, abrasion-retaining embankments, river normalisation, jetties for mooring fishing boats, fishermen’s fuel stations, boat workshops, slurry ice-based ice factories, and dermaga strengthening. “It’s not just about tidying up the housing area, but also ensuring this area becomes more productive and safe from ecological threats,” he asserted. AHY explained that the use of slurry ice technology made from saltwater will help preserve the quality of fish catches longer, thereby increasing fishermen’s competitiveness in marketing marine products to traditional and modern markets. He also assured coordination with the Ministry of Public Works to support further development of the Tanjung Kait area as a model for integrated fishermen’s village development. “We want the collaboration between government, NGOs, and all community elements to continue to be strengthened over time to prosper the fishing community,” AHY concluded. The visit was also attended by Deputy Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Didit Herdiawan; Deputy Governor of Banten, Ahmad Dimyati; Regent of Tangerang, Mohamad Maesyal Rasyid; and Forkopimda officials.
