Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) expressed regret over Israeli and American strikes against Iran, stating that the escalation of Middle Eastern conflict could impact multiple sectors.

According to AHY, the strikes could cause humanitarian tragedy and serious consequences for global geopolitical stability, civil aviation safety, and the worldwide energy sector.

“We deeply regret the renewed conflict and Israeli strikes against Iran, which will undoubtedly cause geopolitical turmoil, particularly in the Middle East,” AHY told journalists at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (28 February 2026).

“And this will certainly have a significant impact on global security and overall stability,” he added.

AHY stated that the conflict’s impact would not be confined to the conflict zone but would extend to global security stability, including Southeast Asia. He expressed hope that the strikes would not severely disrupt aviation.

“The effects will certainly be felt, including in our region, Southeast Asia. We will continue to anticipate this. I believe this is something we must be able to mitigate, hopefully not causing too much disruption to aviation,” he said.

AHY noted that all airlines must increase vigilance and recalculate flight routes for safety reasons.

“But airlines will certainly recalculate safety as the top priority, because we can never predict flight paths, especially in war involving missiles and long-range rockets,” AHY added.

The Chairman of the Democratic Party hoped that tensions between Israel and Iran would ease soon, as they would affect many other sectors.

“Again, we hope this can end quickly. Because this will not only cause humanitarian tragedy but will also create various serious challenges in the economy and global energy sectors,” he concluded.

The United States and Israel launched a combined strike on Iranian territory on Saturday morning, Iranian time. They claimed the strike eliminated threats posed by the Iranian regime.

Iran described the strike as a violation of sovereignty and subsequently launched retaliatory strikes targeting several American military bases in the Middle East.

A series of explosions shook several Arab Gulf nations hosting American military bases on Saturday (28 February) local time. These included Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, and Kuwait, all reporting explosions following the US-Israeli strikes against Iran.
