The government has ensured the readiness of the Trans-Java Toll Road to face the peak of the Eid al-Fitr homecoming traffic in 2026. The toll road infrastructure is assessed to be in optimal condition to support the smooth journey of homebound travellers.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono emphasised that monitoring is being conducted intensively, including for potential weather disruptions and traffic density.

“The Trans-Java Toll Road is ensured to be in prime condition. We are also anticipating all forms of incidents, including weather, which we monitor 24 hours a day, of course in collaboration with the BMKG and the field officers,” said AHY on Thursday.

AHY stated that Thursday (19/3/2026) is estimated to be the peak of the homecoming flow, complementing the previous waves that occurred from the weekend to mid-week. The government has anticipated this surge through various traffic management schemes.

Based on monitoring via CCTV and video conferences, several density points were observed at Km 70 Cikatama, Kalikangkung, and the Prambanan Toll Gate on the functional Yogyakarta-Solo toll section.

“Overall, monitored via CCTV, it is busy but smooth. We continue to oversee this until the flow truly eases, and the public is generally in their respective hometowns,” said AHY.

AHY emphasised that the smooth homecoming flow is supported by Operasi Ketupat, involving the Indonesian National Police, Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Public Works, and toll road operators such as Jasa Marga. This cross-agency synergy is focused on ensuring the public’s journeys remain safe.

He added that traffic heading to Central Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java is the densest. Therefore, supervision is conducted continuously until the Eid return flow.

“Hopefully everything runs well, and they can arrive at their destinations safely, as that is the most important and primary thing. Beyond that, we want to ensure that after Eid, the return flow can also be managed together,” said AHY.
