AHY Distributes Proceeds from Auction of SBY Painting to Singkawang Community
Singkawang, West Kalimantan – Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Chairman of the Democratic Party, handed out social assistance to residents of Singkawang on Monday, 2 March 2026. The aid forms part of the proceeds from the auction of the painting Kuda Api by Indonesia’s sixth president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), which sold for Rp6.5 billion.
The handover took place at Vihara Panca Saddha, Singkawang, ahead of the Cap Go Meh celebrations. AHY said the event was a moment to strengthen togetherness in diversity and to reaffirm the spirit of sharing during the holy month of Ramadan.
‘We watched an exceptional tatung performance. This demonstrates the diversity, richness, and uniqueness of Indonesia, including the Chinese community in Singkawang,’ AHY said.
In his capacity as Democratic Party Chairman, AHY reiterated his commitment to reach out to various segments of society, including those in need of attention and social assistance.
‘We want to continue to bring the spirit of care and sharing, especially during Ramadan. Regardless of where we come from, any ethnicity, religion, race, and ethnicity, our spirit is the same: to help and ease the difficulties of our fellow citizens who need it,’ he stressed.
AHY explained that the sembako (basic food packages) distributed are part of the proceeds from the sale of the SBY painting, held during the Democratic Party’s National Chinese New Year celebration in Jakarta. The painting titled Kuda Api was inspired by the 2026 zodiac sign or the 2577 Kongzili Lunar New Year.
‘Mr. SBY dedicated the Kuda Api painting, which symbolizes energy, spirit, hard work, and determination to achieve goals. Alhamdulillah, the painting sold at auction for Rp6.5 billion. All proceeds are dedicated to humanitarian and social aid for our fellow citizens in need, wherever they may be,’ AHY explained.
He added that the charity activity is part of the Democratic Party’s 25th anniversary celebrations, which will take place in September 2026.
‘This year the Democratic Party marks 25 years. We want to use this momentum to strengthen our commitment to continue to be present with a positive spirit, caring, and making real contributions to society,’ he concluded.
Through this activity, the Democratic Party underscored its commitment to continue promoting more just development and ensuring its benefits reach all levels of society.
During the visit, AHY was accompanied by Bakomstra Head Herzaky Mahendra Putra, who is also from Kalbar; Deputy Secretary General Agust Jovan Latuconsina; and Head of Logistics Yudhi Prasetyo Purnomo.
Also present at the handover of the assistance were Kalbar Demokrat DPD Secretary Ir Usman, Kalbar Demokrat DPD Treasurer Ani, Kalbar Provincial DPRD Democratic Party Faction member Rasmidi and M Isa, Singkawang City DPRD Democratic Party Faction member Agus Ikhsan, and along with other Kalbar DPD and Singkawang Demokrat Party officials.
