AHY distributes 300 welfare packages at Babah Alun Mosque
The distribution of welfare packages, according to AHY, represents a collective call to reduce the burden on those in need during the period leading up to Eid 2026. “Certainly this is a call for all of us to continue helping, at least to ease the burden on those who are in great need, especially as we hope that before Eid we can gather together with family in good spirits,” he said whilst delivering his remarks.
The Babah Alun Mosque is located on the edge of the Depok-Antasari Toll Road (Desari) in South Jakarta, established by Muslim Chinese figure Jusuf Hamka, also known as Babah Alun.
AHY further revealed that the call stemmed from the spirit of humanitarian solidarity in the holy month of Ramadhan, which he considers full of blessings. He also stated that the event brought together the Chinese community and online motorcycle taxi drivers alongside local residents as welfare package recipients.
“I am at the Babah Alun Mosque with Mr. Jusuf Hamka and his son, Mr. Faisal, along with the extended family and community here. This includes the online taxi driver community and the Chinese-descent community, with Chinese communities present from Cianjur, from Sukabumi, as well as from Jakarta itself,” he said. “I had the opportunity to attend Friday prayers here previously, but had never directly engaged with the community here, and Alhamdulillah in this holy month of Ramadhan we were able to strengthen our ties,” he continued.
After delivering his remarks, AHY proceeded to distribute welfare packages symbolically to nine residents present. Afterwards, AHY took photographs with the community.
