Jakarta – AHY, chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), has handed over the decision on Indonesia’s position in the Board of Peace (BoP) entirely to President Prabowo Subianto. AHY made the remark when asked whether, in a meeting at the Istana, the direction of policy and Indonesia’s stance toward the forum were discussed. AHY, who previously served as a United Nations peacekeeper, emphasised that he is not in a position to communicate those strategic decisions to the public. ‘I think he himself is the one who can explain that,’ AHY said after the Democratic Party’s iftar gathering at the Fairmont Hotel, on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. Although not detailing, AHY revealed that in the meeting the President conveyed various considerations that must be weighed amid a global dynamic full of uncertainty. According to him, the state of the world today is very fragile, full of surprises, and demands an adaptive response from every country. ‘What is clear is that he conveyed a lot of considerations, many factors. But in a world that is so fragile, full of uncertainty, full of surprises, we also have to be ready to be dynamic at any moment, to make adjustments, calibrations, and tactical steps,’ he said. AHY reaffirmed that he does not have the authority to announce or explain further the policy directions. He added that the government needs to continue monitoring global geopolitics and take the most appropriate steps to safeguard Indonesia’s national interests. ‘But I do not have the authority to convey that,’ he concluded.
