AHY Calls on Democrats to Be Part of the Solution in National Development
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), has invited all Democratic Party cadres to strengthen organisational consolidation while continuing to be part of the solution for both regional and national development.
Delivering remarks and guidance at the VI Regional Consultative Meeting (Musda) of the Democratic Party Lampung Provincial DPD in Bandar Lampung on Saturday (27/6), he emphasised that the Democratic Party must always be present among the people, absorb public aspirations, and oversee various development programmes to ensure their benefits are truly felt by the community.
“Indonesia is currently moving amidst global turbulence and uncertainty. Therefore, all elements of the nation must work harder to realise the great ambition of Indonesia Emas 2045,” said AHY, as quoted from a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
He requested cadres to always care and maintain the best intentions for the public. AHY also expressed hope for a more peaceful and stable world so that the focus can remain on the nation’s development goals.
He noted that all parties share the grand vision of Indonesia Emas 2045, which requires extraordinary hard work. Consequently, AHY emphasised that the Democrats must not be absent; they must always take part and never stop.
He reminded the assembly that throughout the 25-year journey of the Democratic Party since its founding in 2001, the party has navigated various dynamics, both as a ruling party and while in the opposition. In every phase, he continued, the Democrats have maintained a positive and constructive contribution to the nation.
“Therefore, now under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, the Democrats truly must be part of the solution,” he stated.
In his capacity as the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, AHY invited all Democratic cadres, particularly in Lampung, to continue overseeing infrastructure development that provides tangible benefits to the people. According to him, infrastructure development must be able to address the basic needs of the community, ranging from better roads and irrigation networks to increase agricultural productivity, to schools, hospitals, and more decent markets, as well as the provision of healthy and comfortable housing.
Furthermore, he emphasised that connectivity between regions must continue to be strengthened to encourage equitable development. “Central government programmes must always be synchronised with the interests and priorities of provincial and regency/city governments. Continue to voice our people’s aspirations. The Democrats, once again, must always care and provide solutions,” said AHY.
He also explained the major theme of the regional meeting, which consists of three main elements. First, to tighten the ranks. AHY mentioned the importance of maintaining party solidarity through loyalty, cooperation, and a sense of belonging. He noted that the regional meeting is not a competitive forum, but rather a consolidation forum to strengthen unity and maintain party integrity.
Second, to build strength. He asserted that true political strength originates from the grassroots, thus all cadres are asked to remain present among the people, listen to aspirations, open spaces for dialogue, and consistently guard the people’s interests, not just ahead of political years.
Third, to achieve victory. He stated that every political party certainly has the goal of winning various political contests, but victory must be built upon the idealism of delivering a real impact to the community. “Power comes and goes. What endures is the spirit to bring prosperity and justice to the people,” said AHY.
Therefore, he urged all cadres to strive with all their might so that the Democrats become increasingly successful, capable of winning various political contests, and continue to provide benefits to the people.
AHY reminded that the Democratic Party will turn 25 in September 2026. This quarter-century momentum serves as a reminder for all cadres to maintain a fighting spirit based on three core values: advancing the economy, upholding justice, and preserving democracy.
He emphasised that the economy, justice, and democracy are three inseparable elements. “That is the struggle of the Democratic Party and the hope of the Indonesian people,” he concluded.
