AHY assures all supporting infrastructure for Eid exodus in prime condition
Jakarta — The Coordinator Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) has assured that all physical infrastructure and facilities supporting the Eid exodus and return journey have been properly prepared by the government.
“The Ministry of Transport has endeavoured from the outset to prepare the infrastructure and physical facilities that are expected to be used optimally,” said AHY during a visit to Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He explained that whilst the supporting infrastructure and facilities for the exodus and return journey have been well prepared, they remain subject to mitigation measures by personnel to ensure smooth travel for returning migrants.
“Of course, there are matters that we must mitigate here and there,” said AHY.
As with Indonesian Railways (KAI) during the exodus and return period, KAI has already anticipated extreme weather that could disrupt travel, according to AHY. He stated that KAI has prepared teams, material equipment and heavy machinery at vulnerable locations to anticipate disruptions.
“We inquired about what would happen in case of extreme weather or potential disasters, and KAI has responded by preparing teams at various locations predicted to have high risk levels,” said AHY.
These preparations, he noted, are being undertaken to ensure smooth travel during the exodus and return journey. Additionally, KAI has also ensured that all carriages and locomotives are in prime condition.
“We hope that the condition of the carriages, including the locomotives, remain prime,” said AHY.
