Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang has won the ASEAN Energy Awards 2025 in the ASEAN Energy Efficiency and Conservation Best Practices Awards - Green Building (Large Category). The event was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, recently.

The General Manager of Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang, Sulistyo Yulianto, welcomed the achievement of this award. According to him, it represents the highest recognition in Southeast Asia for innovations, energy efficiency, renewable energy management, and the application of sustainable technologies.

“The success of Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang is inseparable from the commitment to promoting the eco-airport concept, prioritising energy efficiency and environmental conservation in airport operations,” Sulistyo stated.

He explained that Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang has implemented various initiatives, from optimising energy use and utilising natural lighting to managing environmentally friendly buildings.

Meanwhile, the energy efficiency initiatives implemented include the use of solar power plants (PLTS), LED lights, and eco-friendly materials. Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang has also utilised sleep mode features on lifts, elevators, and travelators.

A 100 kWp PLTS is installed on the canopy roof of the administration building parking area and the Main Power House (MPH) building roof. The PLTS is capable of supplying the electricity needs of the Ahmad Yani Airport Administration Building.

“Based on the data we have collected, in 2025 the 100 kilowatt-peak (kWp) PLTS generated energy of 132,930 kWh used to meet various electricity supply needs,” Sulistyo said.
