Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang, Central Java, is operating around the clock in anticipation of flight diversions whilst Soekarno-Hatta Airport remains closed.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport is known to be closed until Monday, 7 September 2026 at 18.00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time) as a result of the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

“We started yesterday (Sunday) operating 24 hours, and this will continue to be adjusted according to developments at Soekarno-Hatta Airport,” said Sulistyo Yulianto, General Manager of Ahmad Yani Airport Semarang, on Monday, 7 September 2026.

The normal operating hours of Ahmad Yani Airport Semarang run from 07.00 to 21.00 WIB.

He expressed hope that the impact of the Mount Anak Krakatau eruption could be resolved soon and operations return to normal.

Nevertheless, flight cancellations resulting from the natural disaster could also soon return to normal.

This situation, he continued, was keenly felt by prospective passengers travelling from Jakarta to Semarang and vice versa who were unable to use air transport.

He also assured the readiness of operational vehicles to assist prospective passengers whose flights were cancelled, as well as unscheduled flights, at the airport.

Ahmad Yani Airport Semarang recorded that 29 flights on Monday remained cancelled owing to the impact of the Mount Anak Krakatau eruption.

A total of 3,420 passengers were affected by the flight cancellations at the Semarang airport.
