Ahmad Sahroni to KPK: Request Rp5 Trillion, Don't Be Half-Hearted!
Deputy Chairman of House Commission III Ahmad Sahroni has urged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) not to hesitate in requesting a large budget from the state. Sahroni suggested the anti-corruption agency directly propose an additional budget of Rp5 trillion for the 2027 Fiscal Year.
This was conveyed by Sahroni while chairing a Working Meeting of House Commission III with KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (17/6/2026). Sahroni assessed that the additional budget currently proposed by the KPK was still too small.
During the meeting, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto explained that the indicative ceiling for the KPK in 2027 had decreased by 22 percent, or reduced by Rp349 billion compared to the 2026 DIPA. This reduction left the KPK’s indicative ceiling at only Rp1.23 trillion. As an anticipatory measure, Setyo proposed an additional budget of Rp762.30 billion.
Upon hearing that figure, Sahroni immediately interjected and pushed the KPK to request an additional budget of up to Rp5 trillion. He reasoned that President Prabowo Subianto had previously expressed a commitment to fully support whatever budget was needed in the fight against corruption.
“Mr Chairman, hold on before we continue. So you are only requesting Rp762 (billion), yes? My suggestion, Sir, because the President has already spoken. So if you present it in your briefing, you can ask for any amount and it will be given. Sir, request 5 trillion, Sir. Don’t be half-hearted!” said Sahroni in the meeting room.
The NasDem Party politician even joked that Commission III was ready to collect on the President’s promise if such a large proposal was rejected. He wants the KPK’s budget to be on par with other law enforcement agencies such as the Attorney General’s Office.
Responding to this push, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto appreciated the House’s support but stressed that the proposed figure of Rp762.30 billion had been carefully calculated based on a priority scale. Setyo detailed that currently the largest portion of the budget is spent on personnel expenditure, while the technical operational allocation for corruption prevention and enforcement is very minimal, at only Rp9.3 billion.
“We are not being unrealistic; we are simply adjusting to our needs. The consideration is for the activities of work units, enforcement, prevention, including coordination and supervision,” Setyo explained.
Setyo believes that if the proposed additional budget of Rp762.30 billion is approved without cuts by the Ministry of Finance, the KPK’s performance in 2027 can be well accommodated.
