The House of Representatives Ethics Council (MKD) has affirmed that the reinstatement of Ahmad Sahroni as Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives followed all applicable regulations.

According to the MKD, no procedural violations were found in the process of the NasDem politician's return to the commission leadership.

MKD Chairman Nazaruddin Dek Gam explained that Sahroni had completed the full term of the sanction imposed upon him. With the punishment period having ended, Sahroni is legally permitted to resume his duties as a leader of the law commission.

Nazaruddin outlined the timeline of Sahroni's deactivation to provide public clarity regarding the status of his sanction. On 31 August 2025, Ahmad Sahroni was officially deactivated by the NasDem Party.

Subsequently, on 5 November 2025, the MKD imposed a six-month suspension. The six-month sanction period, calculated from the date of the party's deactivation, was declared to have ended on 5 March 2026.

"If we refer to the MKD's ruling, Ahmad Sahroni's sanction ends on 5 March 2026. The entire process has been in accordance with the applicable decisions," Nazaruddin said in Jakarta on Sunday (22 February), as reported by Antara.

The formal re-nomination of Sahroni for the leadership position was submitted by the NasDem Party faction on 19 February 2026. Nazaruddin confirmed that the inauguration mechanism was in alignment with the Law on the MPR, DPR, DPD and DPRD (the MD3 Law) as well as the House's Standing Orders.

Although the nomination has been submitted, Sahroni will only actively resume chairing sessions at Commission III from mid-March.

"The nomination from the NasDem Party will take effect from 10 March 2026. This is because the House of Representatives is currently in recess from 19 February to 10 March 2026," Nazaruddin added.

Once the recess period concludes, Sahroni is confirmed to immediately resume his functions as one of the leaders of Commission III, which oversees matters of law, human rights and security.
