Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has confirmed Ahmad Sahroni as Deputy Chair of Commission III representing NasDem, replacing Rusdi Masse Mappasessu. The two had previously swapped positions when Sahroni was suspended for six months by the House Ethics Council over controversial remarks.

Dasco said Sahroni's appointment was based on a letter from the NasDem Party faction leadership numbered FNasdem107/DPR RI/ii/2026, dated 12 February 2026, regarding the replacement of the Deputy Chair of Commission III.

"Ahmad Sahroni will be confirmed as Deputy Chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives, replacing Rusdi Masse," Dasco said during a plenary session in the Commission III hearing room at the House complex in Jakarta on Thursday, 19 February 2026.

In addition to Dasco, the plenary session was also attended by Commission III Chair Habiburokhman and deputy chairs Dede Indra Permana and Sari Yuliati. Dasco then asked whether Sahroni's new appointment could be approved by the forum.

"As chair of the session, I would like to ask Commission III members whether Ahmad Sahroni can be approved for confirmation as Deputy Chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives?" said the Gerindra Party politician.

Commission III members present then gave their approval, followed by the striking of the gavel by the session chair. After being inaugurated, Sahroni shared his reflections on returning to Senayan.

Sahroni expressed gratitude to Dasco, Commission III and the House Ethics Council. He also expressed hope that he could become a better person going forward.

"Thank you, Mr Chairman and friends — it feels strange to have to introduce myself again," he said.

On Friday, 29 August 2025, NasDem Party legislator Ahmad Sahroni had been transferred from his position as Deputy Chair of Commission III for the 2024-2029 term. Sahroni was reassigned as a member of Commission I.

The transfer decision was contained in letter number F. NasDem. 758/DPR-RI/VIII/2025. Based on a copy of the document obtained by Tempo, the transfer was said to be in accordance with the results of a NasDem Party faction leadership meeting.

Two days later, NasDem deactivated Ahmad Sahroni from his position as a House member of the NasDem faction, effective from 1 September 2025. The decision was announced by NasDem Secretary-General Hermawi Taslim. Hermawi said that statements by the NasDem faction member that had offended and hurt the feelings of the public constituted a deviation from the party's mission.

Rusdi Masse has since resigned from the House and NasDem Party leadership. He has now moved to the Indonesian Solidarity Party, led by Kaesang Pangarep.
