Jakarta - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Ahmad Sahroni reported to Metro Jaya Police after claiming to be a victim of threats and extortion by four fake Commission for the Eradication of Corruption (KPK) employees.

Head of Public Relations at Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the report was received by Metro Jaya Police on Thursday night (9 April 2026).

“It is true. Metro Jaya Police also just received it last night on 9 April 2026 around 22:00 WIB from a House member with initials AS,” Budi said at Metro Jaya Police on Friday (10 April 2026).

“The handover of the money demanded from the victim amounted to Rp 300 million, so it was reported by the individual as a victim to Metro Jaya Police,” he added.

Budi further mentioned that they also received information from KPK regarding allegations of defamation against the agency’s leadership perpetrated by the perpetrators.

Police are currently still investigating the case, gathering evidence and witness statements.

“Give time to the investigators to delve deeper,” he said.

Previously, a joint KPK and Metro Jaya Police team arrested four individuals suspected of impersonating KPK employees on Thursday night (9 April 2026).

“The alleged perpetrators were secured in the West Jakarta area,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in his statement on Friday (10 April 2026).

He explained that the joint team uncovered the modus operandi where the imposters claimed to be emissaries from KPK leadership, instructed to demand a sum of money from a House member.

“It is suspected that this demand is not the first time,” he stated.

Additionally, the four imposters claimed they could arrange the handling of cases at KPK.

Budi also stated that KPK employees are prohibited from promising or accepting, let alone demanding, any form of reward, so it is untrue if any party promises to ‘handle’ a case being processed by KPK.

“KPK never appoints any organisation or institution as an ‘extension of hand’, partner, consultant, lawyer, or representative of KPK. KPK also never issues or collaborates with media using the KPK name or similar to KPK,” he added.
