JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ahmad Sahroni, has emphasised that there was no discussion of any case in the fraud incident involving TH, a woman who claimed to be a Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) employee.

According to Sahroni, TH stated that the Rp 300 million she requested would be used for the operational needs of KPK’s leadership.

“But the narrative has twisted as if I were involved in a case, when there’s nothing of the sort. That lady didn’t mention any case at all. She just asked for money in the name of KPK’s leadership,” Sahroni said in the Kebayoran area on Saturday (11/4/2026).

Sahroni then deliberately provided US$17,400, equivalent to around Rp 300 million, as part of a strategy to trap the perpetrator.

“The question is, has the money been given? How can we catch someone if the money isn’t handed over? We instructed the staff to give it; that (staff member) went to ensure it was the person, so I video-called the one I sent to deliver the money,” Sahroni explained.

The NasDem Party politician recounted that the incident began when the perpetrator visited the DPR RI building and wanted to meet him while he was chairing a Commission III meeting on Monday (6/4/2026) around 10:30 WIB.

“My staff received the individual based on information from internal security that there was a guest claiming to represent KPK’s leadership,” Sahroni said.

During a brief two-minute meeting, the perpetrator claimed to be the Head of KPK’s Enforcement Bureau and immediately requested Rp 300 million for KPK’s leadership interests.

“She approached directly, ‘This is a request from KPK’s leadership, the amount is Rp 300 million.’ ‘Okay, Ma’am, later, I’m chairing a meeting right now.’ She returned and asked for my phone number. Since she asked for the phone, I gave it,” Sahroni continued.

After the meeting, the perpetrator contacted Sahroni again to inquire about the money request and even called him again that night.

Sahroni then contacted KPK to verify the woman.

“From there (KPK), they said it’s not true. I immediately said, ‘Arrest her if it’s not right,’” Sahroni stated.

KPK then coordinated with Metro Jaya Police to follow up on the case. The perpetrator was eventually arrested on Thursday night (9/4/2026).
