Ahmad Luthfi Visits Central Java Contingent at National Jamboree, Says Scouts Shape Future Leaders

Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi visited the 12th National Jamboree (Jamnas) at the Cibubur Campground in East Jakarta on Friday, 14 August 2026. In his capacity as Chairman of the Central Java Regional Advisory Council for the Scout Movement, Luthfi greeted the provincial contingent and delivered a motivational address, describing the participants as future leaders. “You have come here to be shaped into leaders when you return to Central Java and your respective regencies and cities. You will be educated to be independent, skilled, creative, and motivated, so you can make yourselves and others proud,” he said. Luthfi urged the Scouts to demonstrate attitudes, behaviours, and speech in line with scouting values and to be capable of identifying and solving problems both individually and in groups. He also noted that the National Jamboree is a valuable opportunity to socialise with representatives from other provinces. “Tell them about Central Java, about your regency or city, about your place of origin. You are Scout Penggalang who serve as ambassadors for Central Java province,” he added. During the visit, Luthfi engaged in dialogue with the Scouts, embraced representatives of Scouts with special needs, and obliged requests for photographs and autographs. Chairman of the Central Java Regional Scout Council, Slamet Budi Prayitno, stated that the province’s contingent for the 12th National Jamboree comprised 1,488 individuals, including 1,208 Scout Penggalang, 24 Scouts with special needs, 68 branch contingent leaders, 175 assistant instructors, 12 regional contingent leaders, and one contingent doctor. He explained that scouting education focuses on two areas: scouting skills, which emphasise character development and soft skills to build resilience in various terrains, and life skills, which provide practical capabilities for daily living. Love for the homeland and national awareness are also instilled. “These Scout Penggalang will become future leaders. Being a leader does not necessarily mean becoming a public or state official, but being able to lead oneself, one’s family, and the surrounding community,” he said. Alifah, a representative of the Central Java Scout contingent, expressed her delight at participating in the quinquennial National Jamboree and at being greeted and encouraged directly by the Governor. “The children of Central Java are certainly great. He gave us motivation to become future leaders,” she said.
