Ahmad Luthfi Emphasises Importance of Integrity Following KPK Arrest in Cilacap

Governor Ahmad Luthfi has expressed concern over the arrest of Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). This incident is particularly troubling given that two other regional heads—Pati Regent Sudewo and Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq—have previously been implicated in corruption cases.

“I have repeatedly stressed and emphasised the importance of integrity,” Luthfi stated in a written statement on Sunday, 15 March 2026.

The Central Java provincial government has established a cooperation agreement with the KPK to prevent corruption. Through the KPK’s anti-corruption task force, the province has provided guidance to regional heads and members of regional legislative assemblies. During the recent World Anti-Corruption Day commemoration, officials were specifically warned against budget irregularities and, most critically, against violating the law.

Regarding the legal proceedings initiated by the KPK against Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman, Luthfi expressed respect for the anti-corruption agency’s actions. He also used the occasion to remind regents, mayors, their deputies, and civil servants that this incident should serve as an important lesson.

“This is a lesson for all public officials, particularly regents and mayors, to demonstrate strong integrity. Integrity must not merely be spoken about but demonstrated through actions,” Luthfi said. He defined such action as conduct that neither violates the law nor abuses authority—elements he considers essential for clean and effective governance.

“Clean governance and good governance must be the foundation for regents, mayors, and their civil servants,” Luthfi stated.

Luthfi also requested that the Cilacap District government administration continue providing optimal services to the public, particularly as the local government prepares to facilitate travel for the 2026 Lebaran holiday season.
