Ahmad Hidayat Supporters Need Not Worry, They Will Become Golkar West Java Officials
The Musyawarah Daerah of the Golkar Party in West Java has concluded. Daniel Mutaqien was elected as chairman by acclamation, after another strong candidate, Ahmad Hidayat, withdrew from the candidacy.
The election of Daniel should not cause concern for Ahmad Hidayat’s supporters. According to Asep Suparman, a member of the DPD of the Golkar Party in West Java, Hidayat’s support base from the Musda will still be accommodated in the organisational structure if Ahmad is appointed as the Secretary of the DPD Golkar Jabar.
He emphasised that Ahmad Hidayat’s decision not to continue his candidacy in the Musda is part of an internal political compromise, with a commitment to maintaining party solidarity while accommodating his supporters.
“Mr Ahmad has a commitment not only to save himself, but also to ensure that his bandwagon of supporters, both from the DPD and affiliated organisations, are included in the management,” he stressed on Thursday (9/4).
According to him, this commitment is also related to the plan to place Ahmad Hidayat as the secretary of the DPD Golkar Jabar, which is said to have received direct attention from the DPP of the Golkar Party.
In the dynamics of the Musda, Asep continued, the process that occurred is not merely the withdrawal of a candidate, but a form of compromise to dampen potential internal conflicts.
“It’s not a withdrawal in the sense of defeat, but there is an agreement so that there are no more frictions within the party,” he said.
He added that the elected Chairman of the DPD Golkar Jabar, Daniel Mutaqien, has also expressed a commitment to eliminating divisions between factions post-Musda.
“There will be no more factionalism. In Golkar’s tradition, once the match is over, it’s over, everyone reunites,” he stated.
He also assessed that Ahmad Hidayat’s closeness to the West Java Governor, Dedi Mulyadi, could actually become an added value for the party, especially in building political communication with the regional government.
According to Asep, this relationship has a historical background, considering that Dedi Mulyadi once served as Chairman of the DPD Golkar Jabar and played a role in Ahmad Hidayat’s political journey.
“That closeness is emotionally natural. Even during the Pilgub, Golkar was also part of the winning coalition,” he said.
With a secretary position based in the region, he said, communication between the party and the provincial government is deemed to be more intensive than before.
“If the secretary is in Bandung, communication can be more frequent and fluid. That is actually beneficial for the party,” he said.
Nevertheless, Asep admitted that he does not yet know the final results of the formatter meeting that has been held to compile the structure of the DPD Golkar Jabar for the upcoming period.
