Ahmad Dhani Reports Instagram Account Hack to South Jakarta Police

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Musician and DPR RI member Ahmad Dhani has reported a suspected hacking of his personal Instagram account to the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police after the account was allegedly used for scams disguised as gold sales. “So today, in response to what was mentioned yesterday, because during the hacking period from morning to afternoon, there were victims. And not just one, apparently several,” said Ahmad Dhani’s legal representative, Aldwin Rahadian, at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police on Thursday. Aldwin stated that the report was made as a follow-up to the existence of victims who suffered losses due to gold sales posts on Ahmad Dhani’s official Instagram account while it was hacked. According to him, Ahmad Dhani’s Instagram account was temporarily hacked and used by the perpetrator to post offers for cheap gold sales, causing several people to believe and make transactions. “So the scammers’ modus operandi was posting gold sales with promises of cheap prices, using Mas Dhani’s IG account. It’s reasonable that people might believe it because it’s a verified account,” he said. Aldwin mentioned that there were three scam victims with total provisional losses of around Rp60 million. Therefore, they asked the police to investigate the case thoroughly because it is considered detrimental to many parties, including Ahmad Dhani’s reputation. “Therefore, Mas Dhani and I as his legal representative have a moral responsibility that this must be investigated to the end. And truly that the account during the hacking period was indeed hacked,” he said. He added that the report was made regarding suspected illegal access or hacking of a digital account. They will also submit several pieces of evidence, including notifications of account access changes via email. “Of course, after the report, the process of summoning witnesses, statements, and we will then submit the evidence. One of which is the warning via email,” he said.
