Ahmad Dahlan Officially Leads Hanura NTB, Targets Iqbal's Second Term
The Secretary General of the Hanura Party Central Executive Board, Benny Ramdhani, has emphasised his party’s commitment to supporting the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, in his bid for a second term. This declaration was made during the inauguration of Ahmad Dahlan as the Chairman of the Hanura NTB Regional Leadership Council (DPD) for the 2025-2030 period, alongside the inauguration of Hanura branch officials across 10 regencies and cities in NTB.
Addressing the target to increase Hanura’s seats in NTB, Benny stated that although Hanura sits outside the main coalition at the national level, the party in NTB remains aligned with the supporters of Lalu Muhamad Iqbal for the next period. “With the Governor’s leadership background and clear vision, if he runs again in the next period, Hanura will stand together with the Governor of NTB,” said Benny.
Benny also expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the newly inaugurated Hanura NTB officials, reminding them of the vital role politicians play as unifiers of the nation amidst political dynamics. “When politics heats up, be a unifier. What this nation needs is not just the presence of political parties, but the Unity of Great Indonesia,” he asserted.
Ahmad Dahlan, also known as Leo, the Chairman of Hanura NTB, stated that the inauguration marks the beginning of the struggle to restore Hanura’s glory in the ‘Bumi Gora’ region. According to him, the inauguration not only confirms Hanura’s political direction in NTB but also serves as a momentum for changing the party’s identity and strengthening coalition commitments.
“This inauguration is not merely a ceremonial event, but a milestone in Hanura’s struggle to increase both our vote share and the number of seats in the provincial legislature and the 10 regencies and cities,” Leo said in Mataram on Saturday (1/8/2026).
The member of the NTB Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) from Bima stated he is prepared to risk his political career to fulfil the party’s mandate. He also mentioned that Hanura will soon launch a new march and a lion-shaped logo, which will be officially introduced by the Central Executive Board.
Governor of NTB, Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, revealed that the General Chairman of the Hanura Party, Oesman Sapta Odang (OSO), was one of the figures who encouraged him to return to the region and run in the NTB regional election. “At the national level, Hanura may be in a different coalition, but in NTB, Hanura has been part of our coalition from the start. I owe a debt of gratitude to Hanura and Mr OSO, who believed in me from the beginning and entrusted me with the ticket so that NTB could be led by the right person,” Iqbal expressed.
Iqbal also urged Hanura officials and cadres to move away from old political patterns and transform into enablers of regional development amidst the global crisis. “We need a new format, ethics, and political norms that show clear allegiance to the people. Let us turn the crisis into an opportunity and advance NTB together,” he concluded.
