Ahmad Ali to Assist Grace Natalie, Ade Armando Responds to JK
The legal case against PSI Board of Patrons Secretary Grace Natalie, stemming from reports by 40 Islamic organisations, has entered a new phase within the party.
Previously said not to receive legal assistance, PSI DPP Daily Chairman Ahmad Ali emphasised that the party would not remain silent. Although not through legal aid, Ali claimed he would push for the case to be resolved through mediation and amicably.
According to him, no matter what, Grace cannot be separated from PSI. Because she is a founder and former general chairman, including her current position as Secretary of the Board of Patrons.
“As long as this party exists, it will never be separated from Mbak Grace, let alone abandon Mbak Grace. Definitely, because she is one of the most important people in the birth of this party,” Ali said when contacted on Thursday (6/5).
He claimed he would open communications with several parties to help mediate the legal process against Grace. Not only with the reporters, but also with the 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla, as the party accused by Grace through her video of blaspheming religion.
As someone close to JK, Ali claimed he would act as a bridge in resolving the case. He has even communicated with people close to JK, and both sides, according to him, have the desire for the case to be resolved amicably.
“Just now I was called by one of the people close to him to discuss this. We both have the desire that this issue does not widen further, so we are pushing for it to be resolved amicably,” he said.
Grace, along with her colleague Ade Armando and social media activist Permadi Arya, were previously reported for alleged incitement. The report was received and registered with number LP/B/185/V/2026/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated 4 May 2026, filed by 40 Islamic organisations united in the Alliance for Religious Harmony.
The reporting stemmed from the narrative of the three in their respective social media channels about a clip of a sermon by the 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), at Masjid UGM.
JK’s speech at that time explained the conflicts in Poso and Ambon as reflections or lessons regarding the importance of maintaining religious harmony. Nevertheless, to date, Grace has not responded regarding the reports against her.
Ade Armando ready to undergo legal process
Unlike Grace, Ade has recently announced his resignation from PSI. He assessed that the legal process against him has gone too far involving the party.
Ade thus claimed he is ready to meet JK and apologise to the Muslim and Christian communities if his statements on Cokro TV YouTube are deemed offensive to them.
However, Ade emphasised that none of his statements were intended to hurt JK or the Muslim and Christian communities.
“If I am brought to meet Pak JK, I would too. Or if I have to apologise to the Muslim community, for example, or the Christian community, I am willing,” Ade said at a press conference at the PSI DPP office on Tuesday (5/5).
JK’s spokesperson, Husain Abdullah, did not answer whether JK would accept if Ade Armando wanted to meet. He only said that all parties should follow the ongoing legal process.
“Because the legal process is ongoing, we just follow it,” Husain said when contacted on Wednesday (6/5).
In response, Ade claimed he is just waiting for the police summons. He stated he is ready to face the legal process against him. Ade believes he is not guilty and considers the accusers’ allegations in the case to be too fabricated.
