Ahmad Ali: PSI Will Not Provide Legal Assistance to Grace Natalie
Ahmad Ali, the Daily Chairman of the PSI Central Board, emphasised that his party will not provide legal assistance to Grace Natalie, Secretary of the PSI Patronage Council, after she was reported in a case of incitement and hate speech at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency.
Ali stressed that Grace’s actions or statements in this case are outside the party’s duties, constituting personal motives.
“Therefore, institutionally, we assure that we will not provide legal assistance on behalf of the party because these are matters that must be personally accountable,” Ali said at the PSI Central Board office on Tuesday (5/5).
Grace was reported alongside her colleagues Ade Armando and social media activist Permadi Arya. The report was accepted and registered under number LP/B/185/V/2026/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated 4 May 2026, submitted by 40 Islamic organisations united in the Alliance for Religious Harmony.
Representative of LBH Syarikat Islam/SEMMI, Gurun Arisastra, stated that the reporting was related to the polemic narrative included in each of their posts regarding excerpts from a video of the sermon by the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) at UGM Mosque while explaining the conflicts in Poso and Ambon.
“LBH Serikat Mahasiswa Muslimin Indonesia and LBH Syarikat Islam along with LBH Muhammadiyah, Hidayatullah, AFKN and other organisations have reported three figures: Ade Armando, then Permadi Arya, and also Grace Natalie,” said Gurun Arisastra to reporters at Bareskrim Polri, South Jakarta, on Monday (4/5).
Ade has stated his resignation from PSI. He assessed that the case has dragged the party too far.
Personally, Ade claimed that his legal case is not new. However, this attack on PSI can no longer be tolerated. Even, the case is indirectly said to potentially involve the seventh President, Joko Widodo.
“I request permission, through this press conference I state my resignation from PSI, yes,” Ade said in his statement.
