Ahmad Ali Hints at DPR Members Joining PSI as Cadres
Daily Chair of the PSI DPP Ahmad Ali has hinted that members of the House of Representatives (DPR) from other parties will join his party. He stated that there will be more than 10 cadres from various other parties joining PSI. “From several parties, maybe 10 is too small a number, there are many more. Well, if they are in the DPR, they are certainly well-known,” said Ahmad Ali during the What The Fact Politics podcast with CNN Indonesia on Friday (19/6). However, Ali was reluctant to provide details or even hints regarding the DPR members he claimed would join PSI. At the same time, Ali also denied the narrative of political dowries being promised to cadres from other parties willing to join PSI. He said the issue was raised by parties who felt disturbed, while emphasising that PSI promotes a politics of ideas. Ali mentioned that one approach is for PSI to make its cadres comfortable by providing strategic positions for those who excel. “If someone wants to join, of course, once again it is not about how much money you pay, but how comfortable you treat the cadre in that place,” he said. Recently, a number of cadres from other parties have joined PSI. One of them is Ahmad Ali himself, who was previously a prominent figure in NasDem. Besides Ahmad Ali, other NasDem cadres Rusdi Masse and Bestari Barus have also joined PSI.
