Ahmad AFC's player of the month

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Fandi Ahmad of Singapore's Geylang United has been declared player of the month for June by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

Fandi was the joint top scorer as Geylang won the first phase of the newly-formed professional S. League in Singapore, the AFC said yesterday in a statement released here.

"The national striker and captain of Geylang also scored the goal that gave his side the halfway stage title as they drew 2-2 with nearest rivals Woodlands Wellington," the AFC said.
