Ahead of Third Warning Notice, 68 Residents on Kamal Cemetery Land in Kalideres Begin Independent Relocation
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A number of residents living on the land for the new Public Cemetery (TPU) development project in Kamal Ward, Kalideres, West Jakarta, have begun dismantling their homes independently.
Kamal Ward Head, Edy Sukarya, stated that out of a total of 127 affected family heads (KK), 68 residents had already chosen to relocate and dismantle their buildings since the month of Ramadan.
“During the fasting month last time, there were already 68 who left independently. These are the ones who do not want to go to the rental flats but have accepted it. Some even no longer have belongings, with their houses ready to be dismantled,” said Edy when confirmed by Kompas.com on Friday (27/3/2026).
According to him, most of the residents who relocated independently chose to rent in the surrounding Kamal area.
“We also help those who request a rubbish truck, so they don’t have to pay extra,” he said.
Edy mentioned that the land clearance target is set for one week after Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. For this reason, the ward office will begin issuing the Third Warning Letter (SP3) to residents who are still holding out.
“The target is indeed to finish a week after Eid, so SP3 will start being given to residents still occupying the land. The residents actually already know they have to move, but the procedure must still be followed,” he stated.
Previously, in January, 20 families had been relocated to Pesakih Rental Flats and Tegal Alur Rental Flats.
“The remaining around 33 KK are still in a grey area, waiting for certainty whether they will dismantle independently or be relocated,” said Edy.
He acknowledged that the availability of rental flat units is a challenge, because many residents want locations that are close, while units are limited.
“The rental flats have a lot of interest, not just from Kamal residents but from all over Jakarta,” he said.
“The leadership’s directive is that we do not use force. We prioritise dialogue and a humane approach,” he added.
