Ahead of the Mudik Season, the Police Chief Confirms Readiness of Resources and Personnel to Face Disasters
JAKARTA — National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo checked the readiness of assets and personnel to face potential natural disasters, and to ensure the smooth flow of mudik ahead of Lebaran 2026. The checks followed the ojol drivers and kamtibmas ‘Nyago Bumi Sriwijaya Aman Bae’ rally at the Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Sunday (8 March 2026). ‘We checked each item one by one to be confident about our service,’ Sigit said. ‘Because besides delivering service to the public who will be mudik, we must also carry out disaster response.’ Sigit stressed that weather and the potential for natural disasters across Indonesia are among the factors that Polri and other stakeholders continually monitor during the mudik and balik Lebaran 2026. Accordingly, Sigit instructed all police ranks in Indonesia to remain on standby or to be ready to respond to disasters. The Police must provide the best service to the public. ‘But weather is, of course, a factor we must pay attention to, and the preparedness of all colleagues to act swiftly in disaster response,’ he added. During his inspection in Sumsel, Sigit said his teams were ready to deliver the best service to the public. He hoped mudik travellers would feel safe and comfortable on their journey and when reuniting with family for Lebaran. ‘I see that everything is ready, and hopefully this will allow us to provide the best service to the public. Especially during Ramadan, and hopefully what we all wish for, colleagues and the public can mudik to meet their families in a safe and happy condition,’ concluded Sigit.
