Ahead of the Hajj Peak, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Urges Pilgrims to Guard Their Physical and Mental Well-being
Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, has stated that preparations in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna) are the current main focus. Armuzna is the most crucial phase because millions of pilgrims from around the world will gather at the same location at the same time.
“All pilgrims from around the world gather in one place, so very careful preparations are required,” the minister, commonly known as Gus Irfan, said after a meeting with Amirul Hajj at the Mekah Daker Office, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday (21/5).
Gus Irfan explained that the Saudi Hajj Organising Committee (PPIH) has drawn up movement schedules to prevent crowding, both at accommodations and during the journey to Armuzna. According to the schedule, Indonesian pilgrims will begin departing for Arafah on 8 Zulhijjah 1447 H or Monday, 25 May 2026.
“From the 8th of Dzulhijjah, we will move the pilgrims into Arafah. Of course with calculations and schedules that have been arranged strictly,” he said.
Next, on 9 Zulhijjah (Tuesday, 26 May 2026), pilgrims will perform wuquuf in Arafah before moving to Muzdalifah and Mina in the afternoon to evening. PPIH has prepared a number of service schemes to support smooth pilgrim mobility.
Besides transport aspects, Gus Irfan asked pilgrims to begin preparing physically and mentally for the peak of the pilgrimage.
“We are also preparing to ensure pilgrims are truly physically and mentally ready for Arafah as only a few days remain,” he said.
Logistics aspects have also received special attention. Gus Irfan acknowledged that food distribution during the Armuzna phase will be challenging due to many road closures and severely limited vehicle mobility. Therefore, the government will maximise the distribution of ready-to-eat meals for the pilgrims.
“We will maximise the process of distributing consumables related to ready-to-eat meals that are distributed to the Hajj pilgrims,” he said.
He hopes that the entire sequence of this year’s Hajj peak can run smoothly so that pilgrims can worship safely and comfortably.
