Entering the end of the Eid holiday period, the return flow of mudik travellers is beginning to show increases across major routes, particularly on the Trans Java toll road and arterial roads. Vehicle volume increases are predicted to peak in the coming days as the joint leave period concludes.

The latest reports indicate that PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT) is boosting service readiness to handle the Idulfitri 1447 H/2026 return flow, especially on the Jakarta–Cikampek toll road, which serves as the main route for vehicles from eastern Trans Java heading to Jakarta.

Based on the latest data, a surge in vehicle traffic is already evident. During Shift 1 on 23 March 2026, 12,624 vehicles were recorded passing from the east towards Jakarta through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate. This figure represents a 49.75% increase compared to normal traffic of around 8,442 vehicles.

JTT Corporate Secretary & Legal Director Ria Marlinda Paallo stated that the company has prepared several strategic measures to maintain the smoothness of the return flow. Coordination with the police and relevant parties is being conducted intensively to ensure that traffic engineering decisions can be implemented quickly and appropriately based on field conditions.

“JTT continues to coordinate intensively with the Police and related stakeholders to ensure that traffic engineering decisions are made quickly and accurately according to field conditions,” said Ria Marlinda.

Additionally, JTT is optimising operational services and positioning personnel at several key points along the Trans Java route. These efforts aim to anticipate potential congestion during the return flow period.

At the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate, 22 toll booths are operational to serve vehicles heading to Jakarta. JTT has also prepared additional access via the Cikampek Utama 8 gate to help distribute vehicle flow more evenly and reduce queues.

In certain situations, traffic engineering such as contraflow and one-way systems will be implemented situationally, adjusted to field conditions.

Toll road users are advised to plan their journeys well and avoid peak return flow times. Furthermore, drivers are urged to ensure their vehicles are in prime condition, with sufficient fuel, and adequate electronic money balance.
