Ahead of Ramadan, Deputy House Speaker Inaugurates Relocation of 8 Homes for Arjasari Landslide Victims
Jakarta — Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and Deputy Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, officially inaugurated the relocation of eight housing units for victims of the landslide disaster in Arjasari Village, Bandung Regency, West Java. The ceremony marked a turning point for the victims, enabling them to begin new lives in safer accommodation.
The inauguration was marked by the symbolic signing of a commemorative plaque by Cucun. House keys and property ownership certificates were also handed over directly to the beneficiaries, ensuring the legality and security of residence for the affected residents.
In his address, Cucun stated that the occasion represented a tangible demonstration of concern and the presence of his constituency office for local residents.
“This relocation does not merely provide physically safer housing, but also brings new hope for residents who lost their homes due to the disaster. We want to ensure they begin a new chapter with peace of mind,” Cucun said in a written statement on Tuesday, 17 February 2026.
The event coincided with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, and was therefore also arranged as a pre-Ramadan gathering and communal prayer session. The new homes are expected to serve as a special blessing for residents as they welcome the fasting month with a sense of safety and comfort.
“May we all be granted safety and strength to continue caring for one another as we approach Ramadan. Thank you to all parties who helped make this relocation possible. May these new homes mark the beginning of a better and more blessed life,” Cucun added.
The relocation forms part of a continuing advocacy effort through the Kang Cucun Constituency Office programme to ensure that communities in disaster-prone areas receive adequate protection and proper housing facilities.
