Deputy Chairman of DPR Commission VI Andre Rosiade distributed 5,000 basic food packages to residents of Sawahlunto city ahead of Ramadan on Tuesday (17 February 2026). The aid was symbolically handed over at the Sawahlunto Market Terminal by Mayor Riyanda Putra together with Deputy Mayor Jeffry Hibatullah, the Regional Secretary, and local government officials, representing Rosiade who was unable to attend as he was still in Nagari Garabak Data, Solok Regency.
Thousands of residents packed the distribution site. In his remarks, Riyanda Putra said the 5,000 basic food packages represented Rosiade’s concern for the people of Sawahlunto, particularly ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
“Today, together with the Deputy Mayor, the Regional Secretary and relevant agencies, we are representing Mr Andre Rosiade in distributing 5,000 basic food packages to the people of Sawahlunto. “We are very fortunate as regional leaders because of the considerable assistance Mr Andre Rosiade has provided to the people of Sawahlunto, especially amid the constraints of local government budgets. These 5,000 basic food packages will certainly have a significant impact on the community,” he said.
During the event, Rosiade greeted Sawahlunto residents via telephone. He apologised for not being able to attend in person and entrusted the basic food aid to the community.
“Peace be upon you all. I apologise for not being able to attend as I am still in Garabak Data. I am sending these basic food packages for the people of Sawahlunto, please accept them. I hope they are of benefit,” Rosiade said.
Rosiade stated that the distribution was held to welcome Ramadan as well as to commemorate the 18th anniversary of the Gerindra Party. He expressed hope that the aid would ease the burden on the community and strengthen solidarity.
“Thank you to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for helping distribute the basic food packages to the people of Sawahlunto. I hope this aid benefits the wider community,” Rosiade said.
