The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta will stage an Ogoh-ogoh parade in Bundaran HI, Central Jakarta, ahead of Nyepi. The parade is scheduled to take place tomorrow and will be attended by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung.

Pramono said the activity is part of an effort to nurture cultural and religious diversity in Jakarta. He described Jakarta as a multicultural and multi-ethnic city, so all communities need space to express their traditions.

‘There will indeed be an Ogoh-ogoh parade tomorrow, and it may be for the first time at Bundaran HI that penjor will also be installed,’ said Pramono at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta, Saturday (7/3/2026).’

Pramono said he and the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta will attend the event. He hopes the event can strengthen the spirit of tolerance in the capital city.

According to him, space for expression of various cultures and beliefs is part of the daily life of Jakarta residents.

‘That shows that Jakarta’s diversity is part of our everyday life. Because Jakarta is indeed multicultural and multi-ethnic, and everyone should have space, a place to express what they believe,’ he said.

Ogoh-ogoh is one of the traditions ahead of Nyepi, usually held the night before Nyepi. The tradition is iconic in Bali, though it is also observed in several other areas with Hindu communities.
