Ahead of National Customer Day, Pertamina Lubricants Emphasises Importance of Timely Oil Changes
Regular oil changes are a vital component of vehicle maintenance. Over time, the ability of oil to lubricate and protect engine components can diminish, meaning vehicle owners must pay close attention to lubricant replacement intervals.
Generally, oil changes are recommended every 2,000–3,000 kilometres for motorcycles and 5,000–10,000 kilometres for cars. However, these intervals may vary depending on the type of lubricant, vehicle condition, and usage intensity. Vehicles used under heavy operational conditions may require more frequent oil changes.
Vehicle owners are advised to refer to their owner’s manuals as the primary guide for determining oil change intervals. Regular maintenance is necessary to help maintain engine performance and reduce the risk of component wear caused by degraded lubricant quality.
Nugroho Setyo Utomo, VP of Marketing at Pertamina Lubricants, stated that oil changes are still often regarded as maintenance that can be postponed by some vehicle owners. In reality, delaying an oil change can increase the risk of engine component malfunctions.
“Oil changes are sometimes viewed as maintenance that can be delayed, which increases the risk of component wear. We encourage consumers to make oil changes a part of their routine maintenance and not wait until vehicle performance declines or problems arise,” said Nugroho.
Ahead of National Customer Day, celebrated on 4 September, Pertamina Lubricants is also preparing several programmes for consumers from 1–6 September 2026. These programmes include promotional offers on the purchase of various two-wheel and four-wheel vehicle lubricant products.
Through the ‘Extra Cashback Hari Gajian September’ programme, consumers purchasing Enduro, Fastron, Prima XP, Meditran, and Mesran series oils have the opportunity to receive additional cashback of up to Rp40,000, subject to applicable purchase volumes.
Another programme is available through Bright Store in the form of ‘Sinergi Bright Pelumas BOB’ (Buy Oil at Bright), offering e-wallet cashback of up to Rp40,000. Specifically on 6 September 2026, consumers in Jakarta can also take advantage of direct sales programmes during Car Free Day at special prices throughout the promotional period.
Pertamina Lubricants is also organising several other activities, including social media giveaways for mechanics and consumers, lottery coupon programmes to watch MotoGP for outlet owners and mechanics, and the distribution of lubricants to customers in various regions.
