Ahead of midterm elections, Trump tells Congress that the US economy is improving
Washington (ANTARA) - US President Donald Trump, who is preparing for the midterm elections, used his speech to Congress to assure the public that the country’s economic conditions are improving by portraying a positive situation, according to the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday (25/2).
According to the report, Trump relied on statistical data and proposed tax cuts even though voters are still concerned about rising living costs.
The Republican party is expected to maintain its majority in the House of Representatives in the upcoming midterm elections.
The latest Wall Street Journal survey shows that many Americans do not agree with the current government’s economic policies and believe that the authorities have not paid enough attention to the problem of rising living costs.
Trump’s second annual State of the Union address to Congress since the start of his second term broke the record with a duration of 107 minutes or one hour and 47 minutes. The previous record was held by Democratic President Bill Clinton.
The State of the Union address is an annual constitutional message from the president to Congress that summarizes achievements over the past year, assesses the state of the country, and outlines the government’s main priorities for the future.
