The government is strengthening halal product assurance (JPH) oversight ahead of the mandatory halal certification obligation in October 2026. A total of 700 civil servants are attending technical guidance to enhance the capacity and integrity of supervisors. Participants come from JPH supervisors at central and regional levels. The event took place from 21-23 April 2026 in Jakarta. Organising committee member Nurfajriah Siregar stated that the technical guidance aims to strengthen the capacity of supervisory staff. This step is crucial to support the implementation of the mandatory halal certificate. “The technical guidance activity aims to strengthen the capacity of supervisory field employees to support the implementation of the mandatory halal certificate as mandated by Law No. 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance and Government Regulation No. 42 of 2024 on the Implementation of Halal Product Assurance,” said Nurfajriah on Thursday (23/4/2026). According to her, capacity building is also needed to ensure business actors’ compliance. The integrity of supervisors is a key factor in halal policy implementation. “And no less important, it aims to enhance the capacity of supervisory field human resources in implementing the mandatory halal certificate,” said Nurfajriah. Several agencies served as resource persons, including BPJPH, Customs, LNSW, Sucofindo, Surveyor Indonesia, BPOM, and related ministries. This collaboration is expected to strengthen cross-sector coordination. The training materials cover halal regulations, halal product assurance systems, customs, and supervision communication strategies. Participants also received case handling simulations and integrity strengthening. The government considers human resource strengthening as key ahead of the mandatory halal certification. With optimal oversight, the policy implementation is expected to run more effectively.
