Ahead of Lebaran Mudik, Used-Car Auction Sales Rise
JAKARTA, Kompas.com – Activity in used-car auctions has begun to show an uptick ahead of the Lebaran Mudik season in 2026. The surge in interest is evident from the increasingly active bidders seeking vehicles for various needs, from journeys back to their hometowns to business operations. ‘Since the start of 2026, activity among auction bidders at JBA Indonesia has shown a growing trend of increasing activity ahead of the Lebaran period,’ said Deny Gunawan, Chief Operating Officer of JBA Indonesia, to Kompas.com (4 March 2026). He noted that the growing number of bidders also opens opportunities for vehicle owners looking to sell their units. With more prospective buyers taking part in the auctions, the potential for vehicles to be sold at competitive prices increases. ‘On the other hand, JBA continues to offer a wide range of used vehicles to meet the needs of people who want to buy,’ he added. The trend of rising auction activity is also reflected in the performance of used-vehicle sales over the previous year. Meanwhile, sales of used motorcycles grew by around 3.2 percent from 63,000 units to 65,000 units. The rise indicates a consistently positive trend in the used-vehicle market. Even in the face of economic pressures, used vehicles remain attractive due to their lower prices and the wide range of available options.
