Head of Aftersales at Astra Peugeot, Rafii Sinurat, said that car owners should carry out a number of important checks at a workshop before mudik.

‘We urge Peugeot users to ensure the vehicle is in prime condition before using it for long journeys,’ he said.

Some vehicle components that should be checked before undertaking the mudik include the engine condition, including ensuring there are no oil leaks or leaks of other fluids.

Then the engine cooling system, such as the radiator coolant level and the condition of the radiator hoses. The engine oil and filter should also be checked to keep engine performance optimal.

The suspension and undercarriage should also be in good condition to maintain stability and driving comfort.

The electrical system and vehicle lighting should also be functioning correctly, including the battery condition so that the entire electrical system can operate optimally.

By carrying out these checks, vehicle owners can minimise the risk of technical faults during long journeys.
