Ahead of Jokowi's Visit, PSI NTT Says All Preparations in Kupang Are 100 Per Cent Ready
The regional leadership council (DPW) of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has confirmed that all preparations to welcome the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo or Jokowi, in the city of Kupang have been completed.
The chairperson of PSI NTT’s DPW, dr. Christian Widodo, said that all technical aspects and cross-party coordination had been finalised ahead of Jokowi’s arrival, scheduled for Saturday, 1 August 2026.
The series of events will begin with a morning walk alongside residents at the Car Free Day area on Jalan El Tari, starting at 06.00 Central Indonesian Time. Afterwards, Jokowi is scheduled to attend the Cultural Carnival and the Elephant Carnival at the Lahi Lai Bissi Koepan (LLBK) beach area at 15.00 Central Indonesian Time.
“All preparations have been carried out properly. So far our preparations have run smoothly because so many parties have helped welcome Pak Jokowi’s presence in Kupang,” said Christian on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.
As the day of the event approaches, public enthusiasm is said to be growing. Christian said many residents had contacted him to confirm the schedule of Jokowi’s visit to Kupang.
“Every day many people contact me to ask about the certainty of Pak Jokowi’s attendance. They are very enthusiastic and cannot wait to welcome him in the city of Kupang,” he said.
According to Christian, the high level of public interest shows that Jokowi still has strong appeal in NTT. He assessed that the visit is not merely an occasion for social gatherings, but also a moment for residents who wish to meet the former president in person once again.
In addition to honouring the public’s invitation, Jokowi is also scheduled to attend an internal PSI agenda, namely PSI NTT’s Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda).
Christian is optimistic that the entire series of events can proceed as planned because all preparations have been completed and have received support from various elements of society and volunteers.
“We are ready to welcome Pak Jokowi’s presence in Kupang. All preparations are finished and we hope the entire series of events can run safely, orderly, and smoothly,” he said.
