Surabaya — On the eve of the Idul Fitri celebrations, PDIP Perjuangan Jatim is reinforcing its commitment to echo the spirit of nationalism and religiosity. This was conveyed by KH Abdul Wahab Yahya, Deputy Chairman for Religious Affairs and Belief in God Almighty at the East Java DPD PDIP Perjuangan, who aims to strengthen nationalist and religious values for both the internal party and the wider community. ‘The target for Lebaran this year is for PDIP Perjuangan to strengthen its nationalist and religious dimension,’ Gus Wahab, as he is familiarly known, said on Thursday, 5 March 2026. The aim is to strengthen religious values among the public. ‘So that going forward we can work with the community and continue to develop these religious values,’ he added. He said that the meaning of Ramadan this year is to seek blessings for orphans and widows. ‘In essence, we seek blessings, we are prayed for so that PDIP Perjuangan Jatim remains active on the Indonesian political stage,’ he explained. The initiative was manifested in the Nuzulul Quran 1447H/2026M at the PDIP Perjuangan Jatim office in Surabaya, which hosted hundreds of orphans and widows.

Said Abdullah, Chairman of the East Java DPD PDIP Perjuangan, said the activity is not merely an annual agenda but a form of togetherness to foster peace among adherents of different faiths. ‘Nuzulul Quran is part of our identity. Because at every major religious event — whether Christmas, or Hindu ceremonies, or events by our Christian, Catholic, and Muslim friends — we always attend together. All religions, whenever there is an event, we are present,’ he told reporters.

The primary aim of the event is to obtain blessings in the holy month of Ramadan. ‘Why did PDIP Perjuangan invite orphans? It was stated that there are 500 orphans; it is not because we give blessings, not because PDIP Perjuangan gives blessings, but because we all want to receive blessings from our orphans,’ he said in his remarks. He believes every prayer from these orphans has the power to be granted by God Almighty. ‘Therefore let us pray together so that PDIP Perjuangan Jatim can carry out this annual Nuzulul Quran, at least, God willing, in any event we will always place women and orphans in a place of honour within PDIP,’ he added. He noted that the activity aligns with the PDIP Perjuangan ideology of a ‘wong cilik’ party — the little people — by continually providing space, room, and opportunities for the common people. ‘We hope this Ramadan will not be the last for us; God willing, we will meet next Ramadan and continue praying for each other for long life,’ he concluded.
