Ahead of the anticipated increase in flight activity during the mid-year holiday period, PT Pertamina (Persero) Chief Commissioner Mochamad Iriawan conducted a working visit to the Ngurah Rai Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT) in Bali on Saturday (13/6/2026). The visit aimed to ensure that the supply and quality of aircraft fuel are maintained, so that flight needs in Bali can be properly met during the school holiday period and the surge in tourist visits to the Island of the Gods. “The reliability of AFT Ngurah Rai plays an important role in maintaining smooth public mobility, supporting regional economic activity, and strengthening air connectivity to and from Bali. This is very important because it is directly related to flight safety,” said Mochamad Iriawan. AFT Ngurah Rai is a strategic facility managed by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga to supply and guarantee the quality of avtur for all domestic and international airlines operating through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. With a total avtur storage tank capacity of 24,300 kilolitres (KL), this facility is one of the main pillars of aviation energy supply in Bali. Currently, avtur consumption at AFT Ngurah Rai reaches an average of around 1,495 KL per day. Ngurah Rai Aviation Fuel Terminal Manager, I Komang Susila Gosa, explained that avtur quality is a crucial aspect because it is directly related to flight safety. “The implementation of routine checks, visual and product specification testing, as well as the application of occupational safety aspects at every stage of receipt, storage, and distribution are our commitment in carrying out operations,” said Komang. During the visit, Iriawan also inspected the operational area and observed firsthand the daily avtur quality inspection process carried out by Pertamina officers before the fuel is distributed to aircraft. He also expressed appreciation for the dedication of the Pertamina officers who remain on standby and carry out their duties professionally even on holidays. According to him, the precision, discipline, and integrity of workers in the aviation sector play an important role in maintaining flight safety standards. “The implementation of SOPs by prioritising HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) aspects is a top priority as well as a license to operate for Pertamina. There is no tolerance regarding worker safety, facility security, or environmental protection in every company operational activity,” he said. Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Muhammad Baron, stated that smooth flight operations play an important role in supporting the tourism sector and the regional economy. “Therefore, Pertamina continues to maintain the reliability of avtur supply as part of its support for public mobility and national economic growth. Bali is one of Indonesia’s main destinations with a high level of air connectivity, so aviation energy readiness is an important factor in supporting the smooth running of tourism and business activities.” Through facility readiness, adequate supply, and the implementation of strict operational standards, Pertamina is committed to continuously supporting smooth flight operations and public travel comfort, especially during the mid-year holiday period.
