Ahead of HLUN 2026, the Ministry of Social Affairs Organises Free Health Checks and Elderly ID Card Services
The Ministry of Social Affairs is organising Administrative Population Administration (Adminduk) services through recording of electronic Identity Cards (KTP elektronik) and Free Health Checks for the elderly in Manggarai Timur Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This activity forms part of the peak events for National Elderly Day (HLUN) 2026, to be staged in Manggarai Timur on 29 May.
The Deputy Regent of Manggarai Timur, Tarsisius Sjukur, expressed appreciation to the Ministry for the initiative. He noted that many elderly people in Manggarai Timur still do not yet have electronic ID cards.
According to him, the local government has undertaken outreach efforts, but there are still elderly people who have not updated their civil registration data.
“Many grandparents still use the old ID, even though they should renew to e-KTP. We have done outreach, but many are reluctant. Therefore, on behalf of the community and government, we thank you for the services provided through HLUN,” said Sjukur in a written statement on Friday (22 May 2026).
On the same occasion, one elderly recipient of the electronic ID card recording services, Benediktus, expressed gratitude for being helped to obtain an electronic ID card.
“Thank you, now I have this,” Benediktus said.
In addition to providing Adminduk services via electronic ID recording, the Ministry of Social Affairs also organised Free Health Checks. Fifty elderly people took part in health checks at the Manggarai Timur Health Office.
During the event, the elderly were given the opportunity to consult directly with doctors about their health conditions, dental examinations, and including the provision of medicines and vitamins.
One beneficiary, Oma Abi, said she was pleased to be able to have the health checks for free.
“Earlier the doctor asked what her concerns were; medicines and vitamins were provided as well. Thank you to the Ministry of Social Affairs for this event,” she concluded.
For further information, HLUN 2026 activities in Manggarai Timur are the result of collaboration between Kemensos and the local government in delivering direct services to the elderly. It is planned that Kemensos will also distribute assistance in the form of bedroom furnishings and accessibility aids.
