Ahead of Hajj Peak, Armuzna Services for Pilgrims Expected to Run Smoothly

JAKARTA — Chairman of Commission VIII of the DPR, Marwan Dasopang, has expressed hope that services for pilgrims during the peak Hajj phase in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna) will run smoothly. The Armuzna phase is considered the most challenging part of the Hajj pilgrimage.

“Now the focus is on Armuzna. That’s where we hope there are no issues,” Marwan stated in a statement on Monday (25 May 2026).

Although services fall under Saudi Arabia’s jurisdiction, Indonesia must have clear mitigation measures in place.

“What are the emergency measures if there are traffic jams or delayed buses? Pilgrims shouldn’t be left stranded waiting for confirmation,” Marwan said.

The government has also been urged to prepare for potential disruptions in food and supply distribution during the Hajj peak.

“These alternatives must be carefully prepared to address possible scenarios,” said the PKB politician.

Previously, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) stated that the Hajj peak phase will begin on 8 Zulhijah 1447 AH, corresponding to Monday, 25 May 2026.

The Hajj peak will commence with pilgrims departing for Arafah before performing the wukuf ritual.

“Upon arrival in Arafah, pilgrims will spend the night preparing for the wukuf ritual the following day, which marks the peak of Hajj,” said Kemenhaj spokesperson Maria Assegaff in a YouTube press conference on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.

She also urged pilgrims to stay with their group, carry necessary belongings and identification, and maintain good health.

The wukuf ritual in Arafah is scheduled for 9 Zulhijah 1447 AH, or 26 May 2026, from 10:00 to 13:00 Saudi time.
