Ahead of Eid, Traffic on MBZ Toll Road Surges 198 Percent

Jasamarga recorded an increase in traffic volume on the Mohamed Bin Zayed Elevated Toll Road (MBZ) on H-3 Eid, or Wednesday, 18 March 2026. General Manager of Operations and Maintenance at PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek, Desti Anggraeni, stated that the number of vehicles leaving Jakarta was recorded at 64,985 vehicles. “This is far higher than normal traffic of 21,787 vehicles, an increase of 198.27 percent,” she said in a written statement on Thursday, 19 March 2026. On the direction towards Jakarta, there was also an increase with a volume of 28,788 vehicles, up 30.32 percent compared to normal traffic of 22,090 vehicles. Overall, the total number of vehicles passing through the MBZ Elevated Road in both directions reached 93,773 vehicles. Desti said that lane closures were still in place for passing through the MBZ toll due to vehicle density. This method was applied situationally towards the Cikampek direction at the discretion of the police. “This step was also taken to alleviate the density that occurred, including at the Kilometre 48 exit due to the convergence of traffic flow from the Jakarta-Cikampek route,” she stated. Jasamarga advised road users passing through the MBZ Elevated Road to continue prioritising safety. The driver’s condition and vehicle need to be in prime condition, maintaining sufficient battery power and fuel, as well as anticipating potential weather changes.
