Jakarta — South Jakarta’s municipal government and the Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) DKI Jakarta have launched a programme offering subsidised staple food to 3,000 residents in Tebet and Kebayoran Lama districts.

“I express my appreciation and gratitude to KADIN DKI Jakarta, which is deeply concerned about assisting residents in need of staple goods as we approach the Eid celebration,” said South Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar at the launch of the subsidised staple food programme in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Anwar stated that the purpose of the subsidised staple food programme is to control inflation. The initiative also represents a tangible collaboration between government, the business sector, and the community in helping meet basic needs, particularly for residents in need.

Anwar explained that the 3,000 staple food packages would be divided equally, with 1,500 allocated to each sub-district. The recipients are low-income residents and individual service providers (PJLP) in each village who have been pre-identified.

“Hopefully this activity will run smoothly and bring blessings to us, as well as further strengthening the synergy between the regional government, the business world, and the community in efforts to achieve the welfare of residents, particularly in South Jakarta,” he said.

Diana Dewi, Chairperson of KADIN DKI Jakarta, stated that the subsidised staple food programme is being implemented simultaneously across five municipal areas. For Rp100,000, residents can obtain staple food packages containing meat, potatoes, flour, cooking oil, and rice.

“So, staple food packages that normally cost around Rp190,000 can now be purchased by residents for Rp100,000,” she said.

Diana revealed that similar programmes will be conducted regularly and jointly to maintain conducive pricing, particularly ahead of major religious holidays.

“If pricing conditions are conducive, entrepreneurs can certainly conduct their business comfortably. The community will also easily obtain the goods they desire at very affordable prices,” she said.
