Ahead of Eid, joint team launches PPKS operation in South Jakarta

Jakarta (ANTARA) - A total of 40 joint personnel carried out the Operation for Supervising the Provision of Social Welfare Services (PPKS) in Bintaro Ward, Pesanggrahan District, South Jakarta. “The number of personnel deployed for this task is 40,” said the Head of Satpol PP for Pesanggrahan District, Rina Sofyani, when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday. Rina explained that the joint team consisted of Satpol PP for Pesanggrahan District, the South Jakarta Social Sub-Department, TNI, Polri, RT and RW administrators, as well as the Community Early Warning Forum (FKDM). She stated that this PPKS supervision operation was conducted to implement DKI Jakarta Provincial Regulation No. 8 of 2007, which regulates public tranquillity and order. “From the intensive supervision, seven homeless individuals, two scavengers, and one clown busker were found at three locations in Bintaro Ward,” she said. Subsequently, Rina continued, the personnel issued verbal and written warnings to the PPKS to prevent them from returning to the streets. “Hopefully, this activity will make them aware that their actions can harm other members of the public,” she said. The South Jakarta Social Sub-Department (Sudinsos Jaksel) reached a total of 30 PPKS, ranging from beggars to the homeless, during the month of Ramadan or early March 2026. The PPKS who were apprehended were then recorded and directed to social homes or given guidance according to their respective conditions and needs to prevent them from returning to the streets. PPKS in South Jakarta are predominantly from Jakarta’s buffer zones because it is an inter-city border area. The authorities also facilitate the return of PPKS to their places of origin through cooperation with official transportation to ensure the process runs orderly and coordinated.
